Dean Mescudi stays away from the limelight; hence details like his date of birth or birthday are unknown to the public. He is the older brother of Kid Cudi, who was born in 1984. Dean is the son of Elsie Harriet (nee Banks), an African-American school choir teacher at Roxboro Middle School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and Lindberg Styles Mescudi, a substitute teacher, house painter, and WWII Air Force Veteran. Dean’s father was of African-American and Mexican descent. He died of cancer when he was young, leaving him and his siblings under their mother’s care. Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, best known by his stage name Kid Cudi was born on 30 January 1984. He was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, and attended Shaker Heights High School for two years before transferring to Solon High School. However, he was expelled from the school but later earned his GED. He enrolled at the University of Toledo to study film but dropped out after a year.

In 2005, Cudi moved to New York City to pursue his musical career, moving in with his uncle Kalil Madi, an accomplished jazz drummer. He worked at several Manhattan clothing stores and eventually rented an apartment in Brooklyn with friend and collaborator Dot da Genius. He later met his future mentor, rapper Kanye West twice: first in a Virgin Megastore, then at the BAPE store in New York.

Kanye eventually signed Cudi to his GOOD Music after Cudi’s debut single, Day n’ Night, and some other works caught Kanye’s attention. Cudi has released eight studio albums, including Man on the Moon: The End of Day (2009), Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager (2010), Indicud (2013), Satellite Flight: The Journey to Mother Moon (2014), Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven (2015),  Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ (2016), Man on the Moon III: The Chosen (2020), and Entergalactic (2022).
