She is the oldest daughter of Odessa and John Pratt, born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Kecia is a former public relations executive, who moved on to become an entrepreneur. She is the founder of the Kecia Pratt-McCullar Foundation, a non-profit organization that aims to help underserved children in the Los Angeles area. She is also an advocate for youth education and mentoring.

She gained her big break when she was cast as Breanna Barnes in the Disney Channel Original Series, The Proud Family. She also voiced Penny Proud in the spin-off animated series, The Proud Family Movie.
