Lorna Jean Gilchrist was married to Stanley Sr. Chong. Her husband was of Chinese Canadian descent and was an immigrant in 1930. He was a war veteran for the Canadian army aa an artillery gunner.

They would settle in Calgary

She is the daughter of Samuel Duncan Gilchrist and  Jamima Dillean. She had one sibling named Delmar Glenford Gilchrist.

She had three kids namely Stanley Jr. Chong, Thomas B. Kin Chong, and Melanie.

Her son the late Stanley Jr. Chong was married to Helen Knappe with who they had four children. Mentioning each with their own children were Karrie (Brooke and Shane), Kacy (Petra, Emily, Hannah, and the late Baby Kelly) Kim ( Eli and Sophia), and Tawny (Ashley and Caitlyn). In total (not all are mentioned), through Stanley, Lorna had 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren. He was big on family, schnauzer diving, and umpiring

Her son Thomas B. Kin Chong was the most renowned and was born May 25, 1938. He is well know as an actor, writer in various shows including: Up in Smoke (1978) and Zootooia (2016). He has been married twice. First to Maxine Sneed in 1960 and would later divorce in 1970. They were blessed with two children Rae Dawn and Robbi Chong. He was later married to Shelby Chong with whom they had  four children; Precious (1968), Paris (

(1974), and Gilbran (1981).
