Actress Kolleen Maria was conceived in 1950 in Grimes, Texas. On August 21st, 1970, in Dallas, Kollen wed William Wright Jr. Erykah Badu, the couple’s daughter a well-known singer and actress, is very close with her mother Kolleen. American actress, singer, songwriter, music producer, and social activist Erykah Badu also performs in public. She attended High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and is the oldest of three children. She never received any music training. Following graduation, Badu enrolled at Grambling State University to pursue dance and theatre as her majors.

She left Grambling, though, to pursue a singing career. With her cousin Erykah Free, Badu formed a group while working as a theatre instructor and waitress. Mars Merkaba Thedford, Kolleen’s third grandchild, was born to Badu in 2009; Timothy Elpadaro Thedford was her father. Before divorcing, the pair dated for five years.
